My Story
Five years ago, life took me on a journey that many have traveled--NON HODGKINS LYMPHONA (NHL). Despite the diagnosis, God's blessings surrounded me through the love of a devoted husband, son, siblings, in-laws, and a 90 year-old loving, yet ailing mother. Included was the loyal, concerning support of friends, co-workers and associates in different parts of the country.
Fear and doubt constantly tried to raise its ugly head, but love kept it at bay. Being surrounded by the love and comfort of so many and having a great caretaker was a breath of fresh air and a pleasant relief. Although NHL was a challenging ride, I am forever grateful that I was filled with comfort.
My faith in God quickly catapulted my mind, soul, and body into a new level of belief, which allowed me to accept my new norm. Faith in God kept me. It allowed me to shift my focus from myself to observe others around me, who were in a similar situation. The need for encouragement was everywhere. Amongst my numerous experiences and observations, one remained on my mind and heart with strong passion and intensity. I witnessed a patient who rode the city bus to and from the treatment center! I am unaware of how many treatments he received. I am aware that I had seven eight-hour treatments and a bus ride home would have been very unpleasant and overwhelming. There were other situations and circumstances I observed, but the man in need of transportation broke my heart. The fire from that passion still burns in my soul today.
As a result, I was moved to establish CARE FREE TRANSPORTATION. Willing donors, along with businesses in the Los Angeles area, will offer free, reliable roundtrip transportation services to cancer patients in need. What a great place to start--free transportation! The mission is greater than I could imagine, but it is much needed in the lives of every cancer patient.
Your contribution can provide relief to cancer patients and their loves ones. Donate today!
With sincere gratitude,
